Movie Classics- The Wizard Of Oz – Released Today in 1939

Everyone remembers the classic The Wizard Of Oz. Or how about The Wiz? It featured an all star line up including Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and Richard Pryor.A film from 1978 that was nominated for four Oscars. Dorothy is a 24 year old kindergarten teacher born, raised, and still working in Harlem. She is celebrating thanksgiving with her extended family, but she does not seem to be thankful for much in life. She lives a self- imposed sheltered life in which she is shy and unfulfilled. Things change for her when she is caught in a snow storm chasing after her dog Toto, they are then transported to the mysterious land of Oz, where she is informed that the only way to find her way back home is through the assistance of  the powerful Wizard in The Emerald City.
