It's time for the 53rd General Clinton Canoe Regatta in Bainbridge. This originally started as a re-creation of the historic trip down the Susquehanna River by General James Clinton during the Revolutionary War.

More than 1,500 paddlers will come to the area for 50 plus canoe races. Yes, this is a huge event. Monday is the 70 mile endurance race from Cooperstown to Bainbridge. It's the longest single day flat water canoe race in the world. You will literally see 1000's of spectators up and down the Susquehanna River banks. It's such an exciting place to be. Everyone cheering on friends, family and strangers. Pit crews jump in the river to give the paddlers water, fruit, a quick shoulder rub, encouragement, whatever they need.

This is Rick Olsen from Mohawk. He's a member of the 2100 mile club. That's a huge accomplishment that many paddlers will never attain. He's been canoeing for more than 40 yrs and started in 35 of the Canoe Regatta Races finishing 31.

The Bainbridge Park will be overflowing with events for 4 days. Everything from carnival rides, music, 5K run, wrestling tournament, fireworks, shows, craft and flea market, tons of food, and that's just to start.

This is the Amateur Competition Cruising Teams, (Mens over/under 50, mixed, Womens classes) coming off Otsego Lake at Cooperstown on the start of a 70 mile marathon canoe race down the Susquehanna river to Bainbridge, NY.
