With the 35th anniversary of the 1980 Winter Olympics almost upon us, here's a different version of the USA's legendary hockey triumph.   If you've seen/heard the moment when the US beat Russia in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, it was probably the Al Michaels ABC-TV broadcast.  But you've probably never heard this.  ABC Radio Network Sports Reporter Curt Chaplin was standing on a platform recording his own play-by-play of the game.  This video syncs his version of the winning call to the original video.  A different take, but still an incredibly exciting moment in hockey and US history!

I was recently on vacation with my family in Lake Placid, and it's great to see the Olympic Center is still hosting tons of events, including youth hockey.  I hope these kids appreciate the historic ice they're playing on!
