Firefly is a 14-year-old mini horse with a big personality. Take a peek at Firefly's relationship with her human Isabella.

Firefly was purchased for Isabella Grace when she was 18 months old. Little Isabella lived on a farm with her family and was showing lot's of interest in the horses, but they were too big for her to take care of. Here's the real tale of Isabella and Firefly.

There have been several times where she has gotten loose from our pasture and was found standing by Isabella’s window waiting for her to get up.

Isabella's mom says Firefly may look cute, but she's little spit fire. She’s an escape artist and loves to get into trouble any time she gets a chance. There have been several times where she has gotten loose from our pasture and was found standing by Isabella’s window waiting for her to get up. Isabella has in the past snuck Firefly into her room trying to convince me that she can stay inside because our dogs do. Their bond developed over time into something adults could only dream of when it comes to an animal. When Isabella was sick, Firefly would stress….it was almost like she instinctively knew her human wasn’t well. When Firefly was under the weather, Isabella would worry like a new Momma to her baby. Isabella and Firefly do everything from swimming in the water together to coloring. They play dress up and have tea parties and spend most of their days together enjoying each other’s company.

When Isabella was three years old, she begged to go to her first horse show. She worked hard all spring learning to ride English and wanted to go to her very own ‘pony show’. They decided to give it a try but explained to Isabella that even though she goes into a class that doesn’t mean she will win a ribbon. As long as she walks out of the arena learning something new about herself and her pony, and had fun than it was worth more than any ribbon she could ever win. Isabella and Firefly came in 3rd place out 18 riders and also came in 1st place in her Pee Wee Horsemanship class. Firefly was one of the most well-behaved ponies at that show. They were offered $5,000,00 in cash for her, but they passed it up because in their eyes Firefly is priceless.

Besides being Bella’s best friend Firefly is also used for their Just Say Whoa program which is a drug prevention program that incorporates horses while teaching young children and teens the importance of not drinking, doing drugs and making good decisions. She has won the hearts of all the kids that have come out to the farm including the local law enforcement that brings the children. Firefly is also used to give little one's lessons for the first time at Silent Hooves Farm.

Isabella's mom says 'Isabella knows her time with riding Firefly is very limited as she will be turning 6 years old and will outgrow Firefly soon but she hasn’t let that discourage her when it comes to loving on her best friend, taking care of her, and giving her the best life possible. She works hard daily, doing chores around our farm and her Grammy’s farm to help pay for her pony’s grain and farrier bill. No matter what Firefly will grow old here on the farm and live her days out being pampered and loved on like any devoted animal should be. We’ve been so blessed to have gotten the chance to own such an amazing little pony."
