Mayor of Rome Addresses Chlorine Leak at Water Facility

An investigation is underway into what caused two separate chlorine leaks at a new ultraviolet decontamination facility for the City of Rome. In a statement released by the Mayor's office, the contractor working to connect the city's water from the reservoir, to the new facility. On more than one occasion over the weekend, during standard procedure for chlorination there appeared to be a leak in the valve supplying chlorine to the City's water system.

Mayor Jackie Izzo wants to emphasize, "at no time was there any danger to any citizens, or to the water supply of the City of Rome." The leak was contained to the facility. At this time all operations at the facility are to be ceased pending investigation and decontamination. Mayor Izzo's office thanks all first responders for their "excellent" command over the situation.
