I was 24 when I lost my birth mother. You don't expect something like that to happen when you're young. Your parents are supposed to be around a  lot longer.I know it was a shock losing my Mother, but over the years I've accept that fact and moved on . I'm not sure how long it took me to come to grips with losing a parent.

I met an incredible woman 17 years ago and we were married just one year later and just celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary.

I knew the family was strong on my wife's side of the family. Almost a Leave It To Beaver strong. I didn't begin to imagine just how warm and caring they have turned out to be. The family has welcomed me with open arms from the very first time I attended a Sunday dinner.

Thinking back it was my Mother-in-law that really welcomed me into the family and became my second Mother. It's as if she just knew that I needed a second mother in my life. I can't begin to express to you how right she was welcoming me into the family.

I can't remember who told me this but it certainly is true. You can have many Fathers but only one mother. I think that saying needs to be reworked to read, you can have many Fathers but only two Mothers.

Her nickname in the family is Curly and she is my adopted Mother.
