Lowville American Legion Will No Longer Air San Francisco 49ers Football Games

The American Legion in Lowville is taking a stand against Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49er's. They will no longer show their games on TV's at the Legion.

The Legion took to Facebook with a post explaining their decision why:

The Lowville, New York American Legion will no longer air San Francisco 49er's Football Games. As a military family we take deep pride in our National Anthem. With their quarter back refusing to stand for the National Anthem, we refuse to stand with the 49er's. I apologize to our 49er Fans. Being the ONLY venue in Lewis County that has the NFL package, I understand that this will be a disappointment. Out of respect to our military family, I must make this stand. By order of the Commander.

The legion went on to post that it's time to draw a line in the sand, and say nor more:

Its time for us as American's to draw a line in the sand, and say "no more". Its our country, our constitution, and we want it back! To those that argue this is his constitutional right, would you also support him if he burned the American flag during a game? Enough is enough.

According to Mashable, Colin Kaepernick plans to sit during the national anthem for as long as he feels appropriate. He's doing this to protest police brutality and unjust treatment of the black community in the United States. So far, he's sat during each preseason game.

According to WKTV, the National Headquarters of the American Legion also responded to what Kaepernick has done:

"On behalf of more than 20 million living U.S. military veterans, I think most of us respect his right to not stand, but we also find the action highly regrettable," American Legion National Commander Dale Barnett said. "The United States has provided incredible opportunity for Mr. Kaepernick. This country allowed him to become a very wealthy celebrity that was able to pursue his dream. We admit that this country is not perfect and could improve in some areas. But the vicious attack on law enforcement is unwarranted. Moreover the freedoms that Mr. Kaepernick has been able to enjoy, were provided by veterans who made tremendous sacrifices on behalf of citizens like him. Instead of focusing on all that is negative about our country, he should remember what's great about America and be an example to young people who may aspire to the same success that he has had." "
