You've heard about all the usual Upstate New York theme parks - Darien Lake, Great Escape, Enchanted Forest Water Safari.  You've even heard about the big ones in Orlando - Disney and Universal Orlando.  But it looks like a new mega theme park, water park and resort hotel may be coming to Upstate...or Downstate depending on how you look at it.

It's just about 3 hours away from Utica.  And it looks like it's about to be the site of a new MEGA theme park - Legoland!  There has not been an official announcement yet, but according to the Times Herald-Record, Legoland is expected to buy several plots of land off Route 17 near exit 125 in Goshen.

This would be Legoland's 3rd huge theme park resort in the United States (California and Florida being the other 2).  Hopefully they will model it after the Florida park, which is about a half hour south of Orlando.  That park includes the regular theme park, a water park and a resort hotel.

New York has given Legoland millions of dollars in grants and incentives to lure them here rather than New Jersey.  This will be a welcome addition to Upstate New York summer fun and have a huge impact on the State's economy.  Sources say Legoland hopes to be open by the summer of 2019.
