As the 4th of July holiday approaches our minds become filled with thoughts of food, fun and of course fireworks. After all what would Independence Day be without fireworks?

In a press release, The Firemen's Association of the State of New York (FASNY) are warning New Yorkers about the dangers of fireworks. Each year they injure thousands of people and result in hundreds of structure fires. Even sparklers, which New York State legalized in 2014 can get hot enough to cause third degree burns on contact.

FASNY is urging New Yorkers to stay safe and leave the fireworks to the professionals.
