As a baby boomer, I grew up with comedian Jerry Lewis and am a big fan. And for 44 years, he hosted the MDA Labor Day Telethon and raised millions of dollars for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Then in 2011, Jerry was cut loose from the telethon, and Labor Day hasn't been the same since.

I admire Jerry Lewis, raising funds and awareness about Muscular Dystrophy and related diseases, often performing in pain himself. One of the greatest moments in telethon history, if not television history, was when Jerry Lewis was unexpectedly reunited with his former comedy team partner, Dean Martin after neither had spoken for 20 years. That happened thanks to another legend, Frank Sinatra.

Watch this memorable moment when Dean & Jerry were reunited on TV before a live audience during the 1976 telethon:

According to mda.org/showofstregth, this year's telethon airs on Sunday, August 31st at 9:00 p.m. on ABC-TV.
