The youngest rookie in the Ithaca Police Department is Officer Colin Toland. He is the brave 9-year-old boy who has been battling cancer most of his life. He was sworn in earlier in the month. He reported for duty for the first time on Wednesday at the Ithaca Police Department. He got everything from a morning briefing, to patrol duty. He did pretty well.

During the morning briefing, and introduction to his colleagues, he gave an inspiring speech about the struggles he faces in his own life. He also talked about goals he's setting for himself, and what he hopes to accomplish. One thing is for sure! Ithaca will surely be a safer place with Colin on the watch.
