It’s that time of year again.  I love it!  Summertime in Central New York.  You just can’t beat it.  Many times, however, when we are out in the sun, we tend to forget something very important for our kids…the sunscreen!

Problem is there is just so much debate about what type of sunscreen is actually more harmful than good.  With that doctors are now advising parents to use physical barriers, such as SPF clothing, umbrellas, and shades, rather than slopping the lotions on babies younger than 6 months old.

Once they are past the 6 month point, you can then consider some of the best recommended sunscreens for younger children.  These are the products that do not contain what are called potential hormore disruptors.  You can find the safe list here.

As always most research recommends that you stay away from the spray-on sunscreens as well.  If you’ve ever noticed, although these are simple to apply, it seems like most of the product is lost in the wind, or worse, it is ingested through the lungs.  Ugh.  Not good.  You can check out more information and get a list of recommended sunscreens here.

Stay safe and hope you have a great Summer!
