Is Uber Finally Coming To Central New York?

We may be one step closer to having the popular ride sharing service available to us here in Central New York. 

The New York State Senate today approved a bill that would allow Uber and competitor Lyft to expand service to Upstate New York.

However, there is a problem for those of us anxious to have Uber as an option.  The state Assembly is not expected to pass the same legislation.  The Assembly's bill requires much higher auto insurance coverage for the drivers.  Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi of Utica says the bill would make it too expensive for them to operate.

As of now, Uber and Lyft are only available in the New York City area in this state.
