Of all the fictional conveyances like Wonka's glass elevator, Dr. Emmitt Brown's DeLorean time machine, and that Great Space Coaster, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has to be somewhere near the top of the list of most well known.  Before the days of VCRs, DVR, DVD, Blu-ray, etc., when you saw this movie advertised to be showing soon on one the major networks, you ensured that your calendar was clear...probably at least a half hour before the showing, just to make sure that you were settled in to your favorite watching spot to enjoy the viewing.  Growing up in a time where the remote control for the tv was you or one of your siblings, the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was truly tops in the Douglas household.

eBay's got the original hero car from Ian Fleming's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang -- or so it claims. According to the seller, the film's production manager insisted that the hero car be a fully-functional road car, not just a mock up so the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang sports a 3.0-liter Ford V6 and automatic transmission, mounted in a one-off ladder frame. The body features a handmade aluminum hood and red and white cedar boat-tail rear. Be advised -- the car won't actually fly. That was just a special effect for the movie. But the big question is -- is this the real Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? The seller provides a convincing back story on the car, but there's no official documentation shown or offered. And frankly, for a starting bid of $1,000,000, I'd need a little more than just your word!
