The Ilion Police are warning residents and business owners that people have allegedly been using counterfeit money within the village.

In a Facebook post, the IPD is suggesting that you closely inspect any bills you receive, and if it looks suspicious do not accept it.

Legal currency shouldn't be defaced in any way, so any suspicious printing on the bills should trigger a red flag.

The IPD says anyone who sees or suspects an individual of using the fake bills should take note of the person's physical appearance(height, weight, race, clothing etc.), the make and model of vehicle they may be using and the last direction you saw them traveling when reporting the situation.

Anyone with questions and/or concerns about counterfeit money in Ilion or the Valley should call Ilion Police immediately at 315-894-9911.
