More creative sentencing in the news today. This time from Judge Frank Forchione inCanton,Ohio, who ordered 46-year-old Valerie Rodgers to make a Thanksgiving dinner as part of her punishment for knocking over a police officer. Officer Eric Martzolf was directing traffic during the Canton Marathon when he ordered Rodgers to stop and not make a left turn. She ignored the order and actually knocked Martzolf down while she drove past. She later pleaded guilty to assault, failing to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, failure to stop after an accident and not obeying traffic control. She has now been ordered to make a roast turkey dinner, with all the trimmings, for three police officers who are unable to work. She's also been placed on probation for a year and will receive jail time if she does not comply.
