Erin Hamlin Wins Bronze

(Updated 12:40 p.m. ET)  Remsen’s Erin Hamlin has become the first American woman to win a medal in the Luge event.  Hamlin had the third best time in her fourth and final run in Tuesday’s Luge in Sochi.  She will be on the podium and wins the Bronze. The Final:  Geisenberger gold; Huefner silver (both of Germany) – Hamlin bronze.

(Updated 12:37 p.m. ET)   Hamlin wins at least Bronze!  She had an awesome run.  Waiting now to see if it’s Bronze?

(Updated 12:35 p.m. ET)  The Canadian in 4th place had an awesome time.  The pressure is on Erin Hamlin.

(Updated 12:14 p.m. ET) The Top 15 are underway.  They’re working from lower ranked to the top 3, so Erin will be going third from last.  If she has a top time, she’ll have to wait for the two German’s ahead of her to see if she earns a medal.

(Updated at 11:45 a.m. ET)  The ice is currently being groomed and the final 15 are going soon.  That includes Erin Hamlin, who will be third from last.

(Updated at 9:40 a.m. ET) Erin Hamlin entered today’s Luge competition today in third place. Following her third of four runs, she’s sitting perfectly to medal later this morning.

Her third round was very impressive and nearly perfect, coming in at 50.165, her fastest run in the competition so far.  She’s currently in third, behind two Germans.

She’ll go for a medal later this morning at 11:30, as Erin will be in a fight for the bronze medal.

Check back this morning at 11:30 for the results of her final run.  We’ll know shortly thereafter if she makes the historic mark by capturing an Olympic medal.  No American woman has ever won a medal in the Luge event.
