A major change will be coming to the familiar green Hess gas stations in Central New York following a merger with another convenience store chain.

During the summer of 2015, Hess gas stations will be re-branded as Speedway. Speedway, which is owned by Marathon, purchased the Hess convenience store chain in May of 2014. Beginning in July, Hess stations in Utica will swap Hess green for Speedway red.

According to a page on the Speedway website the timeline for changing over Hess stations across New York State, in addition to Utica, Hess stations in Albany will begin the transition in July while Binghamton, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo and Elmira will all begin the transition in August.
