With the prediction of a hot, dry summer this in Central New York this year, some people who live in the Herkimer area may be very disappointed to hear this news.  The village pool in Basloe Park will not be open this year.

Herkimer Mayor Anthony Brindisi told the Times Telegram that the 60-year-old pool needs over $400,000 in repairs.  Those renovations were expected to happen after the pool closed at the end of last summer, but Brindisi said they have been delayed indefinitely by issues with engineering and health permits.

When the village pool in Herkimer is finally updated, it will be part of a new multi-use park.  Plans for the disability accessible park include new bathrooms, a fitness path, basketball court, picnic area and a bandstand.
