Former Herkimer College track star Wendall Williams has signed a contract to join the NFL's Houston Texans according to the Herkimer College website.

Originally from Syracuse, Williams is a six-time Junior College Track & Field National Champion for the Herkimer Generals and was also a SUNY Chancellor's Scholar Athlete in 2014.

Williams transferred to University of Cumberlands in Kentucky before entering this year's NFL Draft.

While he wasn't selected in the draft, his speed could be a useful weapon for the Texans. Williams reportedly nearly set a world record at the NFL's regional combine in Minnesota earlier this year.

He will now sign as an undrafted free agent with the Texans after passing a physical.

Williams will join 16 other free agents signing with Houston.
