I have debated this for many moons.  Every year we make turkey, or I should say too much turkey.  Typically we end up bagging a good bit of it and putting into the freezer, only to throw it out 6 months later. Ugh.  Being honest, I could really just do without the turkey.  No matter how I prepare it, it just isn't that great.  Typically dry and just not a great flavor.  I'm stepping outside the boundaries and I'm making smoked ribs this year.  The kids gave me the big thumbs up when I mentioned it, so yeah, that's right, I'm doing it!

The smoker is still sitting on our back deck, so barring a crazy snowstorm that covers everything around the house, I'll be smoking some ribs this Thanksgiving.  However, we will be having all of the rest of our traditional lineup...green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, deviled eggs, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, rolls and maybe some other stuff, we'll see.

Have you ever done anything non-traditional?  What do your family members think about it?
