Graham Nash Announces Upcoming Memoir

He’s had one of the more interesting — and successful — careers in rock. And now, Graham Nash will share his story in an autobiography, scheduled to be published in the fall of 2013.

Nash inked the lucrative deal for his book during a trip to New York, when he met with a variety of publishers before settling on Random House’s Crown Archetype imprint. “They were all more than kind to me,” he chuckled later. “But it was the people at Crown and Random House who gave me over seven figures.”

Nash went on to say he’d be taking readers on a trip through his entire life, including his childhood in England, and said he plans to pull no punches when it comes to talking about his escapades with sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Discussing his meetings with publishers, he recounted, “I’ve been as honest as I can be. If they asked me a question about drugs, I answered them. You ask me a question, you’re going to get an answer. Whether you like the answer or not is your problem, but you’ll get an answer.”

But ultimately, Nash believes his book’s biggest selling point is the opportunity to get an inside perspective on some major bands — including the Hollies and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young — and events in rock’s timeline. “I’ve had an incredible ringside seat to the last 50-odd years of rock & roll,” he reflected. “I think people will be very interested to know what the British Invasion was like, what Woodstock was like, what my friends are like, what trouble we got into, what heights we scaled. I think they’ll be interested in all of it.”
