Good News For Us “Double-Chinners”

London Express/Getty Images

Hey, here’s some good news for those of us who have more chins than a well….you know it goes.  There is a new injectiable drug that targets…you ready for this?  Chin fat.

Double chin is what we typically know it as, but its really called submental fat.  Yikes, huh?  Either way, the FDA as approved an injectable drug that targets the area and help eliminate the fat in the area.  Yours truly could use a good dose of it.

Primarily a treatment for adults, what it does is mimicks the body fat and then it effectively kills fat cells and they have capped the treatments to 50 per session.  Wow is all I have to say.  I doubt I could handle one.  I don’t like needles.

Prior to the FDA’s approval, two successful clinical trials were performed with a placebo. A director at the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research advises, “It is important to remember that Kybella is only approved for the treatment of fat occurring below the chin, and it is not known if Kybella is safe or effective for treatment outside of this area.”

Another win for modern science.
