Tom Coughlin and the New York Giants are hoping their selection with the ninth overall pick is an investment to protect quarterback Eli Manning.

With their first pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Giants opted for 6-foot-6, 330-pound offensive tackle Ereck Flowers from the University of Miami.

Fleet of foot for his size, Flowers is touted as a powerful run blocker, but many think there's much work to be done with his pass protection. It's an ability he'll need to develop if he's going to charged with protecting Manning's blind side.

ESPN Draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. didn't love the pick, saying he projected Flowers as a late-first-rounder and called the Second Team All-ACC Starter 'raw' - from the standpoint of developing his talent. He did admit Flowers had the potential for a very 'high ceiling' in the NFL.
