This weekend's weather forecast has forced the cancellation of Franklin Square's Film Series 'Fright Night'.

The event was planned for Saturday evening (10/22) with screenings of the classic Halloween movie favorites Hocus Pocus and Halloween.

A post on the Made In Utica Facebook page announced the cancellation this morning, citing concern over the forecast of low temperatures, heavy rain and high winds for Saturday.

“Periods of rain. Becoming windy in the afternoon. High 43F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.”

Here's the announcement from Made in Utica:

Because of the nature of this event, our insurance sponsor was forced to back out and it was in agreement with all partners that the ability to pull off the event was highly unlikely. Even without the rain, winds alone are a major factor with the movie screen.

Made In Utica hosts many of our events outdoors. We’ve been lucky for great weather on our Passport Party and Downtown Getdown but have also paid on the Golf Tournament. We’ve been gambling all summer, with luck and not so much luck.

We wanted to make the call today so you could still make plans for the weekend.

The Franklin Square Film Series will return in 2017.
