Margaret Thatcher has died.  The former British Prime Minister was known as "The Iron Lady."

She has suffered several strokes since 2002 and succumbed to a final stroke early this morning.

Thatcher was born in 1925 and served as Education Minister of Great Britain from 1970 to 1974.  To her own surprise she defeated Edward Heath in a General Election in 1975.  Her friendship with American President Ronald Reagan resulted in a new definition of conservatism.

Thatcher served as leader of the Conservative Party from 1979 to 1990 and became the first woman to head a Western political party.

Margaret Thatcher was trained as an attorney.  She was elected to Parliament in 1959, whcih she represented   She and her husband Denis Thatcher have two twins, Mark and Carol,

Margaret Thatcher trained as a lawyer, specializing in taxation. She was elected to Parliament in 1959.  She continued to serve in Parliament until Baroness Thatcher became a member of the House of Lords in 1992.
