Where is the snowiest place in the United States? Right in our backyard. Niche ranked the 50 Snowiest Cities in the United States with the most snow and five are in New York, which comes as no surprise to anyone who lives in the Empire state.

Snowiest New York Cities

1. Syracuse, NY
Average snowfall: 110.0 in.

3. Rochester, NY
Average snowfall: 87.8 in.

4. Buffalo, NY
Average snowfall: 82.9 in.

6. Utica, NY
Average snowfall: 77.5 in.

14. Albany, NY
Average snowfall: 53.9 inches

Utica also came in as one of the Top 50 Coldest Places in the U.S., ranking 22nd with an average temperature of 17.5. Albany came in at #37 at 19.7 degrees and Syracuse is #46 at 20.2.

The coldest place is in Grand Forks, North Dakota at 6.3 degrees.

The village of Copenhagen was named the snowiest place in America last winter. The Niche List only includes U.S. cities with a population above 50,000 and since Copenhagen has about 800 people, they weren't included.
