Fall, without a doubt, is my favorite season of the year.

The beautiful orange, ambers and browns surround you. The smell in the air is crisp and a bit chilly and the identifiable sound of crackling leaves as you walk. If you enjoy the season as much as I do and want to experience all things fall, then you may want to take a drive to Lafayette, New York for the 45th Annual Apple Fest on Saturday, October 7th from 9A-6P and Sunday, October 8th from 9A-5P.

This festival is like some of our local festivals, but on steroids. You can enjoy nearly 500 crafters and like our wonderful Remsen Barn Festival, these crafters are all juried. What that means to you is the crafters here are more artisans than crafters. It’s a great opportunity to start your holiday shopping with fine handmade products, all made right here in the good ole USA!

There's food vendor galore too; from steak sandwiches, meatball subs, pork bar-b-que and just about everything in between. But do not be fooled as the apple really takes center stage at this event with many of the foods paying homage to this fall fruit, like fritters, caramel apples, cider donuts, dumplings, pies, and so much more.

Be sure to bring the kids as well as they can enjoy a midway, pony rides, and horse-drawn wagon rides too. Please leave your four-legged friends home unless they are a service dog. Should you go on Saturday and feel a bit guilty after, you can participate in Lafayette Apple Run on Sunday, enjoy a fun run at 8:30A, a 18K at 9 AM, or 3.5 Mile Run/Walk at 9:15 AM.
