Can you believe this cute little caterpillar is poisonous? The White Hickory Tussock Moth caterpillar from Canada has been showing up in Pennsylvania. I think I've seen these before. 

If you see these caterpillars don't touch them. They have black spines that are packed with venom to ward off predators. If the venom gets on your skin it will leave a nasty rash. The good news is it can be treated at home with lotion and ice.

This type of caterpillar does not look unfamiliar to me. Is it possible they have been around our area for awhile? Keep your eyes peeled and snap a picture if you seen one, but don't touch it!!!
