Additional Information

The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area is collecting diapers and supplies for local babies and families in need with the "Community Baby Shower". Drop off donations at M&T Bank locations in Downtown Utica, Herkimer and Newport through April 30th.

Following the success of last year’s Diaper Drive, with over 5,000 supplies collected, United Way is rallying support for the youngest members of our community by holding its 4 th Annual community-wide Diaper Drive, this year rebranded as the Community Baby Shower.

The program is running April 1 through April 30. Supplies will be distributed to local programs serving families and babies in need throughout Herkimer and Oneida Counties including Catholic Charities and Planned Parenthood.

“The Community Baby Shower is a great way for us to come together as a community to support the health and well being of our youngest and most vulnerable residents: babies,” Executive Director Brenda Episcopo said. “It is also an opportunity for us to alleviate some financial pressure for some parents in the interest of the common good.”

The Baby Shower Registry for items needed most in our community includes:

 Diapers & Wipes

 Formula

 NEW Clothes

 Baby Shampoo & Lotion

 Early Learning Materials (Flashcards, Books, Sensory Items)

M&T Bank locations in Downtown Utica (Gold Dome Building), Herkimer and Newport will be the public drop off locations. The drive is sponsored by Fidelis Care and Lite 98.7 FM.

Local businesses and organizations are encouraged to hold internal workplace collections or host a “Baby Shower” event with food & games to collect items needed most. In addition to collecting items, United Way is hosting a crowdfunding campaign. Visit www.unitedwayvgu.org to donate or for more information.
