"Safe at School" A Workshop for Parents of Children with Diabetes will be held Wednesday November 11th at 6PM at Slocum-Dickson Medical Group. The event is free to attend.
This workshop will give participants the knowledge and tools they need to advocate effectively for adequate care and equal access for children with diabetes in schools.
Participants will learn:
• What resources are available that address issues of adequate care and access
• How to negotiate and secure accommodations
• How federal laws relate to children with diabetes in schools
• What should be in an individualized health plan regarding diabetes management
• What should be in a 504/IEP plan to address necessary accommodations
