Promposal Fail In Front of Entire School Is a Hoax

The new trend is over the top promposals; from skydiving to asking in song. New Jersey student Patrick Smith took it to a new level, asking a girl to the prom on the football field, in front of 2000 people. But he didn't expect her to say no. "I already have a date," she says. Was this an epic promposal fail or is Smith getting the last laugh?

The promposal fail was actually a hoax. Smith tells Pix 11, "Five minutes before we got together and thought "lets trick everyone into thinking this is a legit promposal and I am going to get denied.'"

Not only did Smith trick the thousands in the football stands, thousands more bought it online too, including Andrew Ramos of Pix 11. National sites like Sports Illustrated and Cosmo posted the video too, after it went viral, buying it hook, line and sinker. Some sites even made fun of Smith and his embarrassment.
