Drums Along the Mohawk, the area's premiere drum and bugle corps event, is always an exciting experience to both see and hear.  And the line-up is set for this summer's show.

The show is Wednesday, July 29th at Rome Free Academy Stadium on Turin Street in Rome.  This year's Drum Corps International Summer Tour includes outstanding groups from all over the country:

  • Blue Knights - Denver, CO
  • Crossmen - San Antonio, TX
  • Colts - Dubuque, IA
  • Blue Stars - La Crosse, WI
  • Troopers - Casper, WY
  • Oregon Crusaders - Portland, OR
  • Pacific Crest - Diamond Bar, CA

This will be one of the last stops on their tour.  The 2015 World Championships will be held in Indianapolis the week after Drums Along the Mohawk.

Due to severe weather conditions, last year's show was cut off early.  To show appreciation for fan loyalty, the Drums Along the Mohawk committee has decided to offer all tickets at a $5 discount off last year's price. You can get tickets to the show/competition through their website - www.drumsalongthemohawk.com or call 315-339-6484.

Wonder what the neighborhood around the stadium looks and sounds like before and during the show? Groups set up on peoples' lawns practicing before their turn on the field.  Here's the Cascades rehearsing before last year's show.

Last year, we did some research on the history of drum and bugle corps and marching bands in Central New York.

We found a newly uploaded video that gives you an opportunity to see a classic performance from The Eagles of Central New York. This was recorded in Verona in 1991.

Did you play in a marching band or drum corps in the area?
