It's frustrating when a slow driver stay's in the passing (fast) lane. You start to feel 'Road Rage'. Did you know it's illegal in New York State? We have the 'Slow-Poke Law'.

There is couple of interpretations to the law. According to Jalopnk:

The most popular law follows the Uniform Vehicle Code, which says a car driving below the "normal speed of traffic" should be driven in the right-hand lane. Because it indicates "normal speed" instead of saying "speed limit" a driver going above the speed limit but slower than most traffic is still in the wrong.

Here's the State-By-State map of the 'Slow-Poke Law'.

New York State residents must move if driving slower than normal traffic. The same rules apply to another 28 states as seen above in yellow.

The green states indicate that the left lane should be used exclusively for passing or turning left.

The 5 states in red have a weak or no 'Slow-Poke Law'.

The simplest and best laws simply state drivers in the left lane must always yield to faster traffic regardless of the passing car's speed or other factors.

The state of Indiana is writing tickets and handing out $500.00 fines. In Georgia 310 people were issued tickets and fined last year.

Hey Slow Poke you better step on it or get out of the way!!!
