Hey folks, hope you all had a great Christmas.  We're on the home stretch as we celebrate the arrival of 2016 later this week.  Did you get that new 60" TV that you were hoping for?  Well, if you did, you may just want to think twice about putting the box out on the curb for recycling.

Think about it for just a second...What are you telling everyone that passes by your house?  That's right, you're telling them that you got a brand new TV for Christmas.  One or more passerby may not have gotten a TV for Christmas.  Maybe they got socks and they really wanted that TV.  Now they know you have a new TV and just maybe they'll come back when you are not home and help themselves to your new TV.

It happens all the time.  Boxes that your Christmas gifts get put to the curb just after Christmas.  Xbox One, New Kitchen Aid Mixer, Maybe a new soundbar home theater system, opening up your house to be ripe for the picking.

Here's what I do and maybe you should think about this too.  Number one, I always hold on to boxes that had electronics.  Should something go wrong within so many days, I can still return it to the store.  Second, I would either break down the boxes enough to fit into a container so the labels don't show, or I would actually transport them to a recycling center on my own.

Don't give criminals the opportunity to help themselves to your Christmas loot!
