October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we want to join in the fight with 'Big Frog Bras.'  Donate your bras that we'll string together and hang outside our building.  You're even encouraged to sign your bra in honor or memory of someone you know who's had breast cancer.  Drop it off at our station on River Road in Marcy and we'll add your bra to our collection.  Tell us your breast cancer battle story and we'll share it too.  Together we can raise awareness.

Do know someone who's battled this disease?  I've been lucky enough to not have anyone in my family or anyone I know suffer from breast cancer.  I can't even imagine what it does to not only the person affected, but to their friends and family as well.  Hearing the word cancer is bad enough, but to have it affect a part of your body that makes you a woman must be devastating.

Breast Cancer Awareness month is also an opportunity to remind women to be breast aware for earlier detection.  Self breast exams are recommended monthly.  Mammograms are recommended for women over the age of 40.  Education can empower women to take charge of their own breast health.

They say music can help heal.  Martina McBride sang about breast cancer with her song 'I'm Gonna Love You Through It.'  The video, which includes clips from people who've gone through breast cancer, is so touching.  From hearing they had the disease to how their friends and families supported them.

Email your breast cancer battle stories to polly@bigfrog104.com.  Drop bras off at our station - 9418 River Road in Marcy from 8am-5pm Monday through Friday.  The String of Big Frog Bras to support Breast Cancer Awareness will hang outside our building until the end of the month.
