Yep, It's almost time to get that tree out of your living room.  We typically take ours down the weekend after New Year's.  The thing is, we just take ours apart and put it in a bag.  That's because it's artificial, of course.  No muss, no fuss, that's what I always say.

However, if you are one of those traditionalists, and you headed out the weekend the weekend after Thanksgiving, on your quest for the perfect real Christmas tree, you will need to look at other options when it comes time to dispose of it.

A friend of mine decided to keep his tree until July 4th, then he propped it up in his yard and lit it up like a fireworks display, during a 4th of July party.  Probably not the best option for most of us.

A lot of people tend to start decorating their Christmas trees right after Thanksgiving and starting tomorrow some of you will be ready to take them down.

If you are a procrastinator, and maybe you are still holding on to your tree after the holidays, you may actually be putting yourself, your family and surroundings, in jeopardy.

A good sign to dispose of your tree is when your tree starts to reject water and needles end up on the floor. Also, keep in mind to not leave it by the garage or close to your house. Dried out trees can catch fire quickly.

Officials say to remove the tree early on to help prevent fires.
