We couldn't believe our eyes when we were watching John Wick 3 on the big screen! Did you see it?

Did anyone else notice all the 315 area codes in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum?  It's currently playing at the Marquee in New Hartford. Great movie by the way, but we were seriously sidetracked with the 315 area codes, yes plural, there were lots of phone numbers with the 315 area code.

In the movie, when John Wick is declared him excommunicado, and when a $14 million hit is issued, you see the 315 area code several times. Do we have hitmen in CNY? Ummm, no (right?). We have Evan Schiff who's from Syracuse and the editor of John Wick 3. His site says:

Originally from Syracuse, NY, I moved out to Los Angeles to attend film school at USC. Between classes, I worked at Stan Winston Studio, and when they developed the need for an in-house VFX Editor, I jumped at it. After leaving SWS, I worked as an assistant editor on films like Pan's Labyrinth, Rocky Balboa, Hellboy 2, Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, and Star Trek Into Darkness. In that time, I was also editing as many indies as I could get my hands on and eventually moved up to the editor chair. I've now cut John Wick: Chapter 2 and Chapter 3, Southside With You, Everly, and Proud Mary, in addition to some storyboard and animatic editing on Baby Driver.

We found an excellent interview with Pro Video Coalition that says Schiff 's big break was being named assistant editor to legendary editor Paul Hirsch, ACE on Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.

Evan Schiff started his film industry career at the Stan Winston animatronic studio in 1999 working on such films as Jurassic Park III and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. His work as a VFX editor or assistant editor includes work on Rocky Balboa and Pan’s Labyrinth, Rambo, Hellboy 2 and Star Trek (2009 movie). A major turn in his career came as an assistant editor to legendary editor Paul Hirsch, ACE on Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and a string of films after that. Promoted to the editor’s chair, he has cut films like John Wick 2, Broken Kingdom and Southside with You.

We have reached out to Schiff and hope to hear back. In the meantime, for those who aren't familiar with the John Wick series: Legendary assassin John Wick (Keanu Reeves) retired from his violent career after marrying the love of his life. Her sudden death leaves John in deep mourning. When sadistic mobster Iosef Tarasov (Alfie Allen) and his thugs steal John's prized car and kill the puppy that was a last gift from his wife, John unleashes the remorseless killing machine within and seeks vengeance. Meanwhile, Iosef's father (Michael Nyqvist) -- John's former colleague -- puts a huge bounty on John's head.
