Kane Buss, the Oneida teen killed in a drunk driving accident, may be gone but he's not forgotten. Darius Rucker honored Buss at his show in Syracuse.

Kane's family was in the crowd, holding a sign that read 'Toby Keith wore one for my son Kane Buss, will you?' Rucker waved Claudette Buss to the stage and said "all you had to do was ask. I don't care what Toby did. I'll wear it."

Wear it he did. Darius was given the #KB31 bracelet right off Claudette's wrist, which he displayed proudly for the rest of the show, keeping Kane's memory alive. "How do you ask someone like Darius to honor your son without making a sign? It was the coolest thing." Claudette says.

Buss was killed when his car was struck by Leonard Glowacki, on his way home from a date with his girlfriend Amanda Pawlikowski. A love he sacrificed his life for. Jennifer Peters, who called Kane her “adopted son” says “Kane’s last heroic act was to shield Amanda from the impact. Doctors said his actions saved her life.”

Glowacki was sentenced to 8 1/3 to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide.

Buss, who had dreams of being a police officer, was set to graduate college in May and enroll in the police academy. The Oneida City Police Department made him an honorary officer, presenting Kane’s family with a badge, patches and a plaque that read: ‘Kane’s dedication in pursuing a career in law enforcement was evident by the efforts he put forth in school, the community, ride along with Oneida City Police and by the type of person he was. His desire to help and look out for others are traits that make a good police officer. His passing is a loss not only to his family and friends, but also the community he would have served.’
