Last week, Berkeley CA passed a new law for their community.  For once I’m not talking about the hazards of texting while driving, but the hazards of actually keeping your cell phone too close to your body and subjecting yourself to high levels of radio frequency.

Sound a little high tech?  Check this out.  The FCC suggests keeping your phone nearly an inch away from your face in an effort to stay safe.  I can’t tell you how many times I see people with the phone plastered up against the face being held there by their shoulder because they are doing something else with their hands.  That in itself, is another disaster waiting to happen.

Although there is proof that radio frequency from cell phones will turn into a health issue, but I’m a firm believer in a little bit of preventive measures.

Soon we’ll see labels on phones warning people that there could be a health hazard when using the device.  But realistically, how often do we really read these warnings?  Hey, if it’s for sale, it’s gotta be safe, right?

Think about it.  Is some warning on the phone going to make you put it down or change the way you use it?  Typically I don’t push the phone up to my face anyway, I love using the speaker phone feature.  Why not?

Berkeley is the first community to implement having retailers warn consumers of the risk of radio frequency levels involved with cell phone usage.  I imagine that soon we’ll be seeing it more of a nation-wide thing.  What are your thoughts?
