It took going into overtime for the Comets but the end result was a win by the Utica Comets over Rochester in overtime and a score of 3-2 at Blue Cross Arena.

Simonelli put the Comets up 1-0 midway through the first period, by sneaking a slap shot past Americans goaltender Adam Wilcox.

Zach Redmond tied the game at one apiece three minutes into the second period, putting a wrister past Demko on the power play. Chaput put the Comets back on top with another power play goal at the 14:32 mark of the second period.

Seth Griffith tied the game at two with 16:15 to go in the third period. The goalies Demko and Wilcox were perfect for the remainder of the period sending the game into overtime.

Chaput scored the game-winning goal with only 1:24 remaining in overtime to give the Comets their third win in the last four games.

The Comets are back in action Friday as they host the Hershey Bears, puck drops at
7 pm at the Adirondack Bank Center.
