NEW! Direct Support Specialist

Full and Part-time in Oneida County. This position is shared between Residential Services and Day Services programs for specific programs/houses. A High School Dipolma/GED and six months of documented direct support experience, with a valid NYS driver license and an acceptable driving abstract, with the ability to obtain and maintain Medication Certification and FA/CPR training. Staff will provide supervision and assistance of the individual’s day-to-day activities, socialization, recreation and daily living skills development in both programs.

 

Residential Managers/Counselors

Full and Part-time in Oneida and Lewis Counties. A Variety of shifts are available, including early mornings, evenings, split shifts (AM & PM), awake-overnights and weekends/holidays. Staff will ensure the health and safety of the people we support including personal care and assist in the effective and efficient physical and social operation of the residence during their assigned hours. Requires a High School diploma/GED, and a valid NYS driver license with an acceptable driving abstract.

Awake Overnight Shift Supervisor

FT, Thurs–Mon, 10:30pm – 7:30am, Oneida County. High School Diploma/GED and three years’ experience as a Direct Support Professional, Residence Manager, or equivalent experience. Valid NYS Driver License with an acceptable driving abstract is required. Under direction of the Associate Director of Residential Services, this person ensures the Residence Counselors or other Direct Support Professionals on the awake overnight shifts are trained and working in accordance to their job descriptions to include site specific awake overnight responsibilities.

Registered Nurse

Full-time, weekdays, flexible schedule. New York State Licensure as a registered professional nurse. Specialized training or one year experience in working with persons with developmental disabilities preferred. Valid NYS driver license. To ensure the supervision and provision of nursing services to the people we support at program site. Responsible for the implementation of medical policies and procedure within assigned sites and in accordance with Arc and OPWDD regulations.

Residential LPN

Full-time in Oneida County. Flexible schedule to meet program needs. NYS LPN license, valid NYS Driver license required. This person will assist the Residential Services Registered Nurse/Program Coordinator in providing the day today oversight and health care for the people we support in Residential Services. Follows the Agency’s Core Values and Mission statements.

Speech Language Pathologist

Full-time, days in Oneida County. Master’s Degree in Speech Therapy or Speech Pathology, Permanent Certification as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped are required. One year of experience in the evaluation and treatment of children with communication disorders in the birth to school-aged population. Valid NYS driver license required. This person will provide intervention and evaluation of speech and language disorders to those children who are identified in need of speech therapy services. This person also provides direct speech therapy intervention to those children who are assigned to a clinician’s caseload while also evaluating and completing annual evaluations.

Professional level of proven leadership experience in a developmental disabilities program (one year). The Director is responsible for the direction and day to day operation of Day Habilitation services for persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Full time, part time and per-diem hours available in Oneida and Lewis Counties, High School Diploma/GED and experience with individuals with developmental disabilities or specialized training in related field, and a clean valid NY State driver license with an acceptable driver abstract are required. This person is responsible for providing individuals with developmental disabilities with training and supervision to the extent required by their Individual Services Plan (ISP). This training and supervision will take place in whatever setting is deemed appropriate under the guidelines of the plan, which has been developed with the individual.

Respite Specialist

Full-time in Oneida County. M-F, 2:15 – 10pm The Respite Specialist will provide respite for family members of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.  This respite service will take place in the community. Staff will demonstrate professional conduct to include compassion, dignity, and respect when interacting with the people we support, other staff and family. Requirements: High School diploma/GED, and a valid NYS driver license.

Day Habilitation Specialist I 

Full-time at Senior Center or Fine Arc program, daytime hours. High School Diploma/GED and a valid NYS driver license with an acceptable driving abstract required. Staff will assist in the implementation of the person’s ISP/Day Habilitation plan by providing direct care, training, and supervision to the extent required by utilizing as much community based resources and supports as appropriate to their plan.

FT, Oneida and Lewis Counties, flexible schedule. Bachelor’s degree required and one year of experience in a vocational rehabilitation program. Bachelor's Degree, minimum of one year experience working with people with disabilities; or Associate’s Degree and a minimum of two years’ experience working with people with disabilities; or High School Diploma and a minimum of three years’ experience working with people with disabilities. Must have acceptable driver license, personal vehicle and willingness to transport self and people we support, if needed. Responsible for the provision of employment supports to individuals with disabilities to help them identify and meet their vocational needs, maximizing their independence and utilizing all resources in the community available to them.

Senior Workshop Supervisor / CDL Class “A” Truck Driver

Primarily responsible for supervising production of designated amounts of work in a designated time period. Secondarily responsible for the transport, driving and delivery of product. Duties like that of an industrial foreman in an industrial setting. Secondarily responsible for the transport, driving and delivery of product.

Floating Workshop Supervisor

Full Time, days, Utica. High school diploma/GED. One year of supervisory experience or one year of factory experience required. Clean NYS driver license is required. This position is like that of a foreman in an industrial setting. This person is responsible for supervising production of designated amounts of work in a designated time periods. This person is a first line problem solver for people we support assigned to the work area. This person is a floor supervisor of a work/training area directly supervising the people we support for work performance and Prevocational reinforcement and relief workers assigned to them.

FT, Oneida County, flexible schedule. Bachelor's Degree in a health or human services field, or Bachelor's Degree in a non-health or human service field with a minimum of 20 college credits in health or human services. One year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities, or one year of experience as a service coordinator/case manager with any population. The minimum experience level does not have to be met with a Master's degree in a health or human services field. A clean valid NY State driver license is required. This person will work with individuals with developmental disabilities to promote self-advocacy and informed choice, assist to identify the needs and goals of individuals with developmental disabilities and to procure resources in a manner that will enable them to acquire competency to rely on their own resources and abilities.

Maintenance Mechanic

FT, days, Oneida County, Coordinates and implements the day to day maintenance/basic renovation of the agency’s building and production equipment. High school diploma and two to four years’ experience in the building trade field.  A thorough working knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, masonry, painting and roofing fields.

Additional information about The Arc


The Arc was established in 1954 by a group of local parents and teachers who wanted a better experience for their developmentally disabled children.

In 1957, The Arc established Progress Industries, a vocational workshop program that is thriving today by providing services for many local employers including the assembly of variety pack for the F.X. Matt Brewery.

In 1996, The Arc of Oneida County merged with Lewis County ARC to form The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapter as we know it today.

In 2014, The Arc became the first local agency of its kind to earn the coveted Council on Quality and Leadership (CQL) International Accreditation. They just celebrated the three-year Anniversary of this achievement.

In December of 2015, The Arc purchased the Nickelback Redemption Center in Waterville; this integrated community business now employs both disabled and non-disabled people.

In 2016, The Arc was a finalist for the Utica Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year award in the non-profit category for agencies with over 250 employees.
