The National Weather Service has upgraded from a winter storm watch to a winter storm warning for CNY until 6 pm Wednesday 12/13/17.

It's our first taste of winter. School delays, snowy roads and it's just the beginning of this storm system in Central New York.

We're expecting heavy snow and severe travel conditions in the next 24 hours. 3 to 6 inches of snow through today south of the New York Thruway, and 6 to 9 inches of snow through today north of the Thruway. Lake effect snow tonight through Wednesday will bring an additional 3 to 6 inches snow in Oneida, Onondaga, Madison, Cortland and Chenango Counties.

Dangerous snow squalls are possible with heavy with gusty winds over 35 mph causing blowing and drifting snow. Temperatures will also fall rapidly fall throughout the afternoon.
