This week in CNY Bands That Rock we feature John Gillespie and his 2013 blues CD 'Bout Time.

John started taking guitar lessons at the age of 10 and ultimately figured out the blues was his passion and started taking fingerstyle guitar lessons with the famous Long Island Bluesman, Little Toby Walker. Soon after he began to perform as a solo artist.

John plays acoustic, electric and slide guitar as well as harmonica and mandolin, playing various styles of the blues, traditional and original compositions. He performs solo as well as duo, trio, and full band.

While John was in a band 'The Hellhounds' they recorded 3 CD’S between 1995 and 2001 and were part of a number of compilation recordings, They performed at concerts, festivals and nightclubs all over the U.S. and have shared the stage and opened for such performers as John Hammond, Robert Lockwood Jr., Bob Margolin, Roy BookBinder, Hubert Sumlin, Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers and countless others. After about a ten-year stint the Hellhounds parted ways. From 2015 - 2017 John was part of the central NY based "The Swamp Drivers".
