Clinton Native Gordon Felt Reflects On Flight 93

Clinton native Gordon Felt is the president of the Families of Flight 93. The New York Times just put together a video interview with Gordon talking about the new memorial at the site of the crash.

Felt's brother Edward was a passenger on board Flight 93. His brother was sitting directly in front of two of the terrorists who hijacked the plane. The completion of the Flight 93 National Memorial has taken 14 years, and it's open to the public today (September 10th) in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The $26 million visitor center complex uses photos, video, artifacts and interactive displays to tell the story of Flight 93, and how events unfolded on that September day. This was the only flight among the four taken over by terrorists that failed to reach its intended target. The center is home of 10 exhibits where visitors will learn how the 33 passengers and seven crew members voted to charge the cockpit and then fought to regain control of the plane.

"You are seeing an incredible story of heroism, a piece of American history playing out in front of you as you are walking through this exhibit that gives perspective on the day," said Felt, president of Families of Flight 93."
