The owner and President of the Clifford Fuel Company has issued a statement following Tuesday's tanker truck accident and fuel spill on the North-South Arterial.

The following is the full statement from Jim Clifford:

“Clifford Fuel Company, Inc. would like to apologize to the public for any inconvenience caused during this unfortunate accident.  We are thankful that everyone is safe and there were no serious injuries.  We’d also like to express our appreciation for the actions and concerns of all the first responders, including Chief Russ Brooks and the Utica Fire Department, other Fire Department agencies, the New York State Department of Transportation, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Utica Police Department  and the New York State Police.  We’d like to recognize the contractors who responded to the scene on our behalf, including Eggan Environmental, Bick and Heintz and Clinton Collision.  We are cooperating and working with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on containing and cleaning up the site.

DEC officials say about 11,000 gallons of fuel spilled from the overturned tanker.

Two off-ramps on the Arterial remain closed because of the spill.
