The cleanup from the flooding is underway in Whitesboro.

Whitesboro Fire Chief Peter Sobel says the Mohawk River overflowed its banks at about 3:30 this morning, flooding out the entire east section of the village.

Sobel says crews are now wokring to get five and six feet of water out of people's basements.

He says they expect to be at it for most of the day.

Sobel says they're being assisted by the Yorkville, Stittville and Oriskany Fire Departments in their cleanup efforts.
