Our Classic Car feature usually talks about vintage cars, but let's take a trip to 2012 for one day and talk about the hottest car at the New York International Auto Show this year. We are talking about the Terrafugia Transition, a two-seat airplane with foldable wings, four wheels, and turn signals. It's the future of flying cars.

WIBX is reporting that the car is be billed as a “street legal airplane,” that's a flyable car.

The company says that a lot of the people who have placed orders are not currently pilots, so you do not have to be a pilot to buy one, but you do have to be one to drive one. Initial flight testing has yielded an 8-minute flight time, but that is increasing. Testing will continue through 2012 and deliveries are set to begin next year.”

The best part, It only retails for a smooth $279,000.
