Our intent is not to start a panic in CNY, but there's a real possibility of a national chicken wing shortage during the NFL season. Will this possible crisis ruin the football season?

Chicken Wing prices are going up, but that's normal for this time of year. You know, the supply and demand thing. Prices go up around the Super Bowl, March Madness, the beginning of football season.

Bon Appetite says wings were sold by wing-count, so if one small wing was the same as a huge wing why not sell the smaller one which is quicker to grow. Plus small wings have the perfect meat-to-bone-to-fat ratio. Then we started super-sizing chickens and it was hard to find small wings. The wing market went out of control in 2014 and that's when they started selling wings by weight.

So now more wings are needed for that 10 lb bag, but there's still only 2 wings per bird bringing up the cost to about $2.10 per pound vs $1.66 per pound a few years ago.

If you have any ideas on how to survive a wing shortage? Could you make the switch to boneless wings? Is that even a wing?
