Celebrating The Life Of Kids Everywhere, In Memoriam Of 8 Year Old Martin Richard Who Died In The Boston Bombings

I heard bits and pieces about explosions in Boston yesterday and was out with my kids at the park and drawing chalk pictures on the sidewalk and was largely cut off from the world for the day, so I had no idea of the brevity of what happened in our neighboring state until I came in this morning to prep for the morning show. 3 people dead, 144 injured, several who lost their limbs, carnage everywhere. The thing that got to me the most was that 8-year-old Martin Richard was killed while watching his dad cross the finish line at the Marathon and the rest of his family was severely injured too.

I hear about tragedy and report about it often as a radio show host and web blogger, but as the dad of an 8-year-old and two other small children, I simply can’t imagine the loss that Martin’s dad is feeling right now, his son gone, his wife and sister hospitalized. You can hear about all of the grisly details and watch videos and photos elsewhere, but I’m just going to post some pictures I took of my kids’ sidewalk drawings yesterday in honor of the little boy who is no longer with us and all of the rest who lost their lives, were injured or affected by this tragedy. I don’t even know anyone in Boston nor who have been directly impacted by this but I can tell you this has hit home to me here, miles away.
